Simplify

I’ve decided that it was time to simplify my life, starting with my closet. This weekend dozens of beautiful ladies came to my house to drink champagne and shop my closet.

My closet is not very big but somehow I managed to spread its contents out into 3 rooms of my house without even making a dent. The sale went well, sold a couple hundred dollars worth of memories I’ve been saving for a decade.

Special Shout-Outs:

• Adios orange sorbet Free People dress with the pretty fiesta colored tie bow thing I was wearing when I found my lost cat (Bo Bo) on Cinco de Mayo and shoved in my back pack so I could carry him home on my bike and drink my margarita at the same time. You were not the brightest but had a good soul. 

• Farewell first pair of Vans that I almost died in because I didn’t own a proper pair of athletic shoes and wore to climb a small mountain in Thailand during 100 degree weather. I’m sorry my dog chewed your heel off - we still cool? 

• Bye-bye slutty gray dress with the long sleeves and open back that I only wore once when I drank way too much Jager that one New Years Eve and crashed through a glass table in. You were a total skank but were the life of the party.

To all the others - it’s been real. Enjoy your new life!

Shoes Trump All

Ever read something that makes you feel like someone understands you on this great blue planet of ours?  Hannah K. Lee and her Shoes over Bills zine does that for me. I can really relate to her stance on shoes vs. all other life necessities.

I Can Explain…

So I am in a wedding this October. It’s been really fun being a part of it so far. I’ve dusted off the creative part of my brain and made several invitations for her and this weekend we’re building a special sign for the big day, fun stuff!

The weddings theme is country garden and we got to pick out the bridesmaids dresses ourselves based on several color options. Here is mine:

We were told the shoes either need to be nude or match the dress which brings me to the “I can explain” part of it all….

My dress is a natural color with a hint of mauve and I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect shoe. I’m a great hunter so no problem right? Well, I found these shoes on eBay that fit the bill. They weren’t a size that I could make work so I started searching around.

No luck on any of my go-to resale or overstock sites and no luck on the official website for the brand either. Reaching out on the brands facebook page with a picture of the shoes was my last resort. 

Guess it’s time to reveal that the brand in question is Fergie Shoes. Yes, Fergalicious and her lovely little lumps have a shoe line. Obviously it consists of mostly slutty pumps, platforms and ridiculous boots.

I tried to cover my steps after posting on the Fergie Shoes facebook page so people didn’t think I actually followed Fergie’s business endeavors. Didn’t work. Due to the recent activity of friends and family on said facebook post I wanted to clarify once and for all:

I, Taylor, am not, nor have I ever been, a fan of Fergie or her shoes. In addition, I solemnly swear never to write a long blog post revolving around shoes or Fergie ever again. 

However, a true hunter doesn’t discriminate on brand, they find something that works and they don’t stop until they find it for the best price. Now, without further adieu the shoe:

I Wish I Was a Textile ..

.. Not a textile designer, just a pretty textile.

Preferably an embroidered one designed by Anna Duthie.

The hunt was on this week at work for lots and lots of shoes. Now, as fun as it sounds, buying 100 pairs of shoes isn’t easy. I’ve scoured the town from thrift store to department store and all that’s in between and STILL need more.

While on the hunt I came across this sweet little pair of vintage Jimmy Choo heels (that I kept for myself) for $14. YIPPEE!
