I made an ear this morning at my desk using special effects grade molding clay and a paper clip.
The inspiration behind this project came form a friend who wanted little fondant ear toppers for Blue Velvet themed cupcakes. Well I was bored today and decided to do a test run.
Put the finishing touches on it out in the warehouse with some fancy tools. We’re making a bunch of rubber ears using my lil’ creation as a mold. Yip Yip! My first official project as a Special Effects crew member that doesn’t involve purchase orders and phone calls.
On a side note… Blue Velvet was filmed right here in Wilmington, NC. Last year I got to touch the actual prop ear used in the film. Life is weird sometimes.
