Nice to Pretend Meet You
Don’t know who this woman is but she was in NYC for Fashion Week and she is my new idol. I’ve created a whole pretend persona for her and have named her Gilda Kirk.
Gilda’s friends call her Da (pronounced dah) and she is some sort of extraordinaire. Can’t decide between the “black sheep” President of a Fortune 500 company or the more obvious choice - Fine Art Dealer. Either way she has a hot man assistant and a really pretty dog.
Da lives in a swank apartment in Manhattan but her favorite house is two hours outside the city on the East End of Long Island. It’s where she spends most of her time. A long driveway leads up a cedar shake home that is all white inside. Gilda’s décor has a mid-century vibe and the kitchen is huge. She has a rotating group of friends that crash in the matching guest house nestled behind some tall, tall bushes. Da’s overnight guests range from world renowned chefs visiting NYC to fresh on the scene artists that lay by the pool all day thinking deep thoughts.
There are bunnies and chipmunks that hop around her huge green lawn and she has a white cat named Mia that guards the garden. When the weather is nice she and her friends like to drink wine and wander around the property. The occasional cartwheel is attempted by somebody’s young, drunk girlfriend. It’s cool though. Da loves the energy and just passes her a joint.
